Working Wednesday #13

Okay… I’ve been fairly busy this week… not too busy, but busy enough. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll be honest, I haven’t been sticking too much with the goals I set earlier though. Still, let’s see what I have done.

I Loved You First

  • Received the copy back with editing notes from Dave Parker (president of my local PLAG chapter in NC).
  • Implemented the editing changes
  • 77% done with reading through to make sure no new errors have been introduced after changes
  • Plan to have ARC ready Saturday, July 23, 2011
  • Offered ARCs to blog followers and Goodreads friends (if we’re not connected through GFC –check out sidebar– or Goodreads, consider hooking up with me so you stay in the know). If you didn’t receive an invitation and are interested in an ARC, friend me on Goodreads. I’ll probably send out invitations to new Goodreads friends on Saturday, July 23, 2011
  • Need to send out review requests to Review Blogs – Will send the first batch Saturday, July 23, 2011
  • Need to do one final read through before publication. This is in addition to the current read-through. Expected release date August 1, 2011

Kickstarter

  • Last day to pledge Saturday, July 23, 2011 – Don’t miss out if this was on your list. –character naming, signed copies, S.W.A.G., book acknowledgements, and more– Plus you get to support an author!
  • 31% toward the funding goal

Blog

  • Restructured the categories
  • Added buy links to my work (way overdue for that)

Reading Challenge

  • Behind 2 books
  • Plan to read 2 books a week to catch up (with the work for I Loved You First coming to an end, I think I can do this)
2011 Reading Challenge
Reena has read 18 books toward her goal of 60 books.

The Party Starts Here [Giveaway Closed]

It’s that time again… the day I add up all the minutes during the year and realize I’ve hit another milestone–my birthday. Woot! As some of you know, I’ve been 26 for more years than I can remember. I talked about this earlier during the year. Well, I’ve decided this year I’m not going to be 26 again. I’m going to be 27. Awesome, right? 3 squared. That sounds so much better than 26. So if anyone asks, tell them, she turned 27 for the second time.

So what’s happening for this year? Well, two things:

  1. I’m asking for a present. (yeah… Reena isn’t being humble this time around. After all, she’s wiser and 27).
  2. I’m giving presents. (Cause that’s just the blogging thing to do.) ๐Ÿ™‚

Me first! So you all know I have a Kickstarter Campaign running for I Loved You First. Please pledge. That’s it. I really need your help. And keep in mind, pledges start at a buck. That’s $1 for those who don’t speak American English. I mention this because last week I found out a quid is slang for a pound in England. I’m like, why in the world would they not just call it a pound? My husband said, the same reason we use the term ‘buck.’ Duh. Okay. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now for your goodies! A giveaway! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m thinking 3 winners. What do you say?

  • Second Prize – A book from The Book Depository ($10 value)

One small reminder. If you haven’t picked up Shadow Cat. It’s been on sale for the week. July 2, 2011 is the last day to pick it up for $0.99. You’ll find it at Amazon, Amazon UK, Amazon DE, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

Working Wednesday #11

Okay… This week I worked on more than just I Loved You First. Not much, but a little. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you don’t mind, I’ll skip my failures again, and just hit the good stuff. So let’s see where we are.

  • Edit I Loved You First
    • Four scenes a week
      • Last update 29/32
      • Done!!!! Final word count on this draft is 40,234 words with 32 scenes.
  • Clean up blog and update link
    • This week, I worked on the review (2010/2011) and reading lists. Really all I did was use the Goodreads Widgets. ๐Ÿ™‚ I figured that way they’ll update themselves. No mess.
  • 2011 Reading Challenge ~ Apparently I lost my lead, and now I’m right on track. This week I’m reading The Archangel by Michael Young. I’m so loving it.

Tomorrow’s my birthday! If you were around for my last birthday, you know I’m the type of gal to ask my family for the presents I want.

Welcome to the family. I’m putting out my wishlist, which is simple. I want your pledges! $1, $5, $10, $1,000,000,000,000–I don’t care. Okay, if you pledge $1,000,000,000,000, I will care.

Seriously though. Every little bit helps. If you’re not familiar with the Kickstarter Campaign program, I’ll let you in on a secret. It’s all or nothing. I’m about 25% toward my goal of $800. If I received $799.99 worth of pledges, everything falls through, no funds arrive toward my editing fund.

So I humbly request with virtual cherries on top (unless you’re allergic to cherries), read the first chapter of I Loved You First, check out my Kickstarter Campaign, pick through the rewards, and if you’re so obliged, please pledge.

My best friend was more than just a best friend to me. Three words summed it up: I heart him. Iโ€™d never tell him though. I wasnโ€™t stupid. Besides, what heโ€™d told no one, but me, was a little something I wished I could forgetโ€ฆ or ignore. He was gay. I guess gay wouldnโ€™t be bad if I wasnโ€™t so in love with him. Now it was just cruel.

Stereotypes run amok in this college love story: Parties, alcohol, hookups, and breakups. Alexandria Carmichael may find it a bit much as she deals with the unreturned love from the boy who completes her. When all is revealed, not only does she risk losing her best friend forever, but also herself. Without her childhood companion for support, Alexandria takes a journey of self-discovery but fears what sheโ€™ll find at the end.

Add it to your Goodreads list. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, check back tomorrow for the giveaway I’ve planned for my birthday. ๐Ÿ˜€

Working Wednesday #10

The progress I’ve made this week is pretty concentrated on one work (I Loved You First). So I’m going to skip talking about the other goals. ๐Ÿ™‚ Why dwell on failures, right? haha

  • Edit I Loved You First
    • Four scenes a week
      • Last update 27/32 scenes
      • Currently at 29/32 scenes. Not quite the 4 scenes, but at least we’re making progress, right? Hopefully one more update, and we’ll be done with the polish portion. I still need to go back and make sure I’m not infringing on any copyright laws. I’ve contacted the artists of the songs but haven’t receive permissions from everyone. To counter that, I plan on writing alternative versions for the sections in questions. But that’s for the future.
  • Kickstarter Campaign – I Loved You First
    • This week I’m starting a new goal. Like I need more goals considering how well I keep up with the ones I do have. As some of you are aware, I’ve started a Kickstarter Campaign to raise money to hire an editor for I Loved You First. I have a tiny goal of $800. The deadline to meet this goal is July 23. It’s an all or nothing type deal, but I’m offering wonderful rewards for backers.
      • Current progress $100/800
  • 2011 Reading Challenge ~ I’m still on track this week, at least for today. ๐Ÿ™‚ My current read is Spellbound by Cara Lynn which I obtained from Netgalley.
